The
Greater Miami Neighborhoods' Philosophy -
A Winning Approach
GMN's success can be tied to three key factors: sticking to its mission of increasing
the supply of affordable housing for low and very low-income families, a dedicated
and tireless Board
of Directors, and a gifted and dedicated staff. While providing affordable
housing is the key outcome of GMN's efforts, the ripple effects resulting from
its core mission are equally important.
Affordable housing development for low- and very low-income families are the
building blocks and underpinning for community building and neighborhood economic
revitalization. In fact, the families living in GMN's rental developments earn
an average of 34% of the area median income. Neighborhood and community revitalization
results from the financial reinvestment that is required to build and then sustain
the housing developed.
The $476 million in real estate development completed by GMN and its affiliate
organizations translates into thousands of construction jobs and other permanent
positions associated with the long term servicing of these development. The thousands
of new tenants and homeowners who need a variety of goods and services, help
to strengthen existing neighborhood businesses and to create economic opportunity
for new businesses.
